The Hadley School for the Blind is the largest worldwide distance educator of blind and sight-impaired people, their families and blindness service professionals. Founded in 1920 by William Hadley and Dr. E.V.L. Brown, Hadley offers courses free of charge to its blind and sight-impaired students and their families and affordable tuition courses to blindness professionals. Today, the school serves more than 10,000 students annually in all 50 states and 100 countries.

The Provincial Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired (PRCVI) is a Ministry of Education Provincial Resource Program, hosted by the Vancouver School Board (VSB). The mission of PRCVI is to provide learning resources, leadership, information, training and consultation to support school districts’ goals of equitable access and enhanced educational opportunities for students with visual impairments.
The primary function of the PRCVI is to provide British Columbia School Districts and Group I or II Independent Schools with alternate formats of provincially recommended learning resources and with specialized equipment to support the educational needs of students with visual impairments. A second responsibility is to support school districts by providing consultation and training opportunities for teachers of students with visual impairments. The Visually Impaired Adult Program at Vancouver Community College (VCC) offers programs and courses to meet the specific needs of visually impaired adults.
VCC helps provide opportunities for you by offering skills that will enhance your career opportunities, personal potential and academic success. Their programs are designed for students to study on a part-time or full-time basis. All computing stations in their program are equipped with JAWS for Windows and ZoomText adaptive software, and all study materials are available in alternate formats.

Course Formats and Schedule
All courses are self paced. Courses can be taken face to face, in an online Moodle environment or by email. Face to face classes are available Monday to Friday 8:45-3:15.

Intakes: Monthly from September to June
Cost: Varies. Financial aid is available.
Requirements
Students must be legally blind or meet requirements of CNIB Sight Enhancement Enrolment.
