Rights of access for a person accompanied by a guide dog is protected by the <a href=\"http:\/\/laws.gnb.ca\/en\/ShowTdm\/cs\/2011-c.171\/\/\">New Brunswick Human Rights Act<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Summary of the New Brunswick Human Rights Act<\/h2>\n<p>In New Brunswick, as in the rest of Canada, people are protected by law from many types of discrimination. This law is the <a href=\"http:\/\/laws.gnb.ca\/en\/ShowTdm\/cs\/2011-c.171\/\/\">New Brunswick Human Rights Act<\/a>. The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnb.ca\/hrc-cdp\/index-e.asp\">New Brunswick Human Rights Commission<\/a> enforces that law.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnb.ca\/hrc-cdp\/index-e.asp\">New Brunswick Human Rights Commission<\/a> is a provincial government agency. It promotes equality and investigates and tries to settle complaints of discrimination and harassment. If a complaint cannot be settled, a human rights tribunal can hear the evidence. If it decides that there was discrimination, it can issue orders to correct it.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnb.ca\/hrc-cdp\/index-e.asp\">New Brunswick Human Rights Commission<\/a> also works to prevent discrimination by promoting human rights and offering educational opportunities to employers, service providers and the general public.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/laws.gnb.ca\/en\/ShowTdm\/cs\/2011-c.171\/\/\">New Brunswick Human Rights Act<\/a> is a provincial law that prohibits discrimination and harassment in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Employment<\/li>\n<li>Housing<\/li>\n<li>Public services for example schools, stores, motels, hospitals, police and most government services<\/li>\n<li>Publicity, and<\/li>\n<li>Certain associations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The grounds of prohibited discrimination are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Race<\/li>\n<li>Colour<\/li>\n<li>National origin<\/li>\n<li>Place of origin<\/li>\n<li>Ancestry<\/li>\n<li>Religion<\/li>\n<li>Age<\/li>\n<li>Marital status<\/li>\n<li>Sex (including pregnancy and gender identity)<\/li>\n<li>Sexual orientation<\/li>\n<li>Physical or mental disability<\/li>\n<li>Social condition, which includes source of income, level of education and occupation, and<\/li>\n<li>Political belief or activity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you think you are being discriminated against or harassed based on the prohibited grounds listed above you can file a complaint with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnb.ca\/hrc-cdp\/index-e.asp\">New Brunswick Human Rights Commission<\/a>. You do not need to be a resident of New Brunswick, a citizen or a landed immigrant.
